Cream Outdoor Rug

One of the simplest ways to update your outdoor seating or dining area is to roll out an outdoor rug. Rugs not only add softness underfoot, but they can also help define use areas, make a bold statement with colour or pattern, and complete an outdoor room.

Cream outdoor rugs can be used to visually separate areas outside your home, just as they can inside. Because decks and patios are essentially open floor plans, cream outdoor rugs are especially useful for defining spaces. A neutral rug, for example, helps define the seating area to the left of the dining table on this veranda, making it feel separate but connected to the outdoor eating area.

A soft cream outdoor rug can make a porch feel as welcoming as a room inside the house, if not more so. A warm beige and light brown rug was used by the designers of this front porch of a restored 1770s estate home to encourage the homeowners. A pair of couches, potted plants, and a hanging swing chair add to the appeal of the space.

To energise a deck and make it party-ready, use a cream outdoor rug with bright colours, patterns, or both. Bright colours for example pink rug can work well in darker areas, such as shaded patios or covered porches, where the saturated hues pop. Many cream outdoor rugs made of engineered materials, such as this one made of recycled polypropylene, are reversible, making it simple to update the look of your patio.

It's always more appealing to step out onto a balcony with a lovely cream outdoor rug than to walk barefoot on deck boards. This balcony, complete with pillow-topped wicker chairs and potted citrus, appears to be the ideal cosy spot to curl up with a good book thanks to its soft floor.

A cream outdoor rug allows you to create a colour or pattern theme in your outdoor space. The designer used a white and pumpkin orange rug to create a look for this home's covered porch. Throw pillows, curtains, a bistro chair, and even the orange candles on the coffee table match the cream rug, resulting in a successful matchy-matchy look.

Texture can be added to outdoor spaces by using outdoor rugs with more subtle colours or patterns. Covering the poured concrete patio, for example, with a softly patterned cream outdoor rug as patio rugs add richness to the space and extend the home's decorating style to the backyard. A pair of cream outdoor rugs run the length of this covered walkway to make a functional passageway feel warm and inviting while also breaking up the corridor effect. On a long, skinny breezeway or narrow side yard patio, the same strategy could be used with a pair of rugs.

Outdoor furniture can appear to float in wide-open outdoor spaces with little structure. An outdoor rug in cream can act as an anchor in a seating area, transforming a group of outdoor chairs or sofas into a more inviting gathering spot. Consider other weather-resistant materials in addition to what is marketed as an outdoor rug. For example, on a terrace, squares of artificial turf serve as an outdoor rug, implying a carpet of lawn on an urban balcony.
